The federal government has directed all civil servants to declare any dual nationality, foreign residency or work permits within 90 days under the newly notified Foreign Nationality Rules 2026.

New recruits will also be required to submit such declarations at the time of induction. The Establishment Division said the rules are aimed at strengthening transparency and avoiding conflict of interest in sensitive posts.

Officers found to have concealed information will face disciplinary action under the Government Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules, the notification warned.
